A Case of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Accompanying Raynaud`s Phenomenon

Abstract
It is a very infrequent case of the systemic lupus erythematosus to accompany with Raynaud¢¥s phenomenon in Korea.
Initially, the patient had suffered from diffuse articular pains, peripheral discolorations of the fingers, toes and lips, and from edematous face. The most characteristic features were symmetrical butterfly rashes of the face and edematous appearances with cyanosis on the face and distal parts of the extremities. On several studies, there are found classical distinct evidence of L-E cells on the peripheral blood smear and a significant histopathological findings for collagen disease. The skin biopsy of the palm was showed hyperkeratosis with parakeratosis, and degenerative liquefection of basal cells of epidermis. A disease specific cold test in Raynaud¢¥s phenomenon was demonstrated with positive reaction.
The progress of the patient was good with conservative treatment during the first and second hospitalization.
